The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC06

  Happy Thankgiving to All!
Yes, we include our friends from around the world
as we are reminded it is good to give thanks for all things!

Our design team host this week is Sarah.
If you visit her blog The Art of Moodling,
you might just recognize this week's colors.
Here's what Sarah had to say about her color inspiration...
The colour choice came from an early step on a journal page I was working on.  I scanned the page at certain intervals.  I'm sure I read somewhere once that your journal pages can be a good prompt for other creative work that you do.  When you're playing in your journal you sometimes use colours that you wouldn't naturally put together.  I've taken a section of a journal page, identified the colours, then used them in
different proportions in this ATC.
The orange has become the main colour with
dashes of blue and green,
something I wouldn't have produced without this prompt!

Here are projects from our other designers to help inspire you.....

The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC05

We are so glad to welcome our
newest designer Julie Campbell from

Here's what Jules had to say about the inspiration
for this week's challenge:

Hello!  So excited for my first week at The Play Date Cafe!  I've enjoyed playing along with the challenges since the very first week, and am so looking forward to all the new challenges coming up!  While looking through scores of photographs for some inspiration, this one just leaped out at me!  Being a vintage girl at heart, I fell in love with the beautiful vintage-looking perfume bottles.  The colors really drew my eye--I love that light blue next to the purple...a little bit of silver, some soft and lovely white all around...just felt like a lovely color combination for me to work with!  Hope you enjoy it, too!  Looking forward to seeing all your beautiful creations.
Have fun!

The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC04

Your design host for this week is Sandi from
Paper Trail / Celticwoman

Here's what Sandi had to say about the inspiration
for this week's challenge:

Well, this is my week to host the challenge and I eagerly invite all of you to play along, as these are some of my favorite colors.  I chose blue/green, chocolate brown, tan and cream.  There is a peace and tranquility to these colors, which I am sure is the reason the bedroom in the picture just calls out for a nap. Speaking of naps, there is no creature on earth that has so perfected the art of napping as the cat and/or the husband, which of, both have become the object of my affection in this card.  I wanted to use whimsy and humor, so to share that, elegant colors don't always need elegant presentation to work.  You may all take one lovely nap when your challenge is completed, LOL.  Hugs

Here's what Alison had to say about the inspiration
for this week's challenge:

The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC02

Your host for this week is our designer from The United Kingdom, Sarah Anderson.
Here's what Sarah had to say about her inspiration
for this week's challenge:

"I've been looking at the autumn trees for a few weeks now, and the ones I have enjoyed the most are the ones with orange and yellow leaves, where the dark brown trunk stands out in stark contrast.  Hence my choice of colours for the challenge.  I hope you enjoy working with these brights this week, contrasting them with dark brown/black.  I'm soooo excited to see what you do with this colour choice"  : )

Welcome to The Play Date Cafe Challenge #1

Well...here it is! The Play Date Cafe's very first Challenge! Are you as excited as we are?
Each week, someone from our design team will be your host. What does that mean? It means the color choices and the inspiration behind those colors are chosen personally by that week's host. You never know what story may come with that inspiration,
so be ready for anything.

You may be asking yourself 'what makes this color challenge different?' My answer to you is play along and see what you think. I believe you will find that the color inspirations will be unique, our designers will offer you a variety of projects to draw ideas from and the challenges will be loosely interpreted. Of course, one question remains...
WILL THERE BE PRIZES?
YOU BET!
We are currently looking for additional sponsors for the challenge, so if you know of a company looking to do so, please let me know. More on that later!
Let's get to the challenge.

Your host for this week is 'yours truly'. Thought I would give the DT a week to get their feet wet. My inspiration from the photo above is pretty obvious. We are certainly in that time of year when we prepare not only for Halloween, but for fall decorating in general.
I hope you will take a good look at the inspiration photo to see just where my color choices came from.
See the 'moon shadow' behind the tree?
What about the few leaves left on that tree?

Here's what we hope you will take from each challenge....are these colors open to interpretation? Yes indeed...so use your creative juices. Our colors are close suggestions. We are not using specific card stock color names nor brands for our challenges, so you can really break out of the box and have some fun. What we do ask is that the colors that are in the challenge BE your focal colors...you can use additional colors,
but let the challenge colors be the focus.
ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PLAY!

The first project to inspire you is from me...the rest are from a very talented group of women who are so excited to be a part of The Play Date Cafe Design Team. I hope that you will not only draw ideas from them, but visit their blogs and get to know them!

Each week, one winner will be chosen to win the prize of the week and a badge to display on their blog that says 'I won at The Play Date Cafe'. At the end of a month, we will determine a guest designer from our winners to join us the following month. We will also award honorable mentions.

The prize for this week is $25 worth of stamping and scrapping supplies from a variety of companies. So please follow these rules carefully to enter:

You are welcome to combine challenges, but we do ask that they be used for the first time here, you mention in your post that you are playing (better yet, display our color challenge photo) and that OUR colors are the focus of the card. Just link the card from your blog to Mr. Linky below...JUST THE LINK FOR THAT CARD OR POST...not your entire blog. Any links with the entire blog will be removed from the entries. If you use an online gallery, you may link the same way and please use the code PDCC01 in that gallery.
If you are not a part of a gallery, we invite you to be a part of The Play Date Cafe Social Network and upload your photos there with a link back.
Deadline for prizes is 11:59pm EST Tuesdays...winner will be announced Thursday at the next challenge.
Have fun!
