Color Splash!!!

This week's 'splash'?

Lilac

(or any shade of purple)

Create a project using:

Black & White 
with a 
'splash' of  
lilac/purple

Once again, your color host for this week is

"This lilac rose really caught my eye, and I realised that although 

I like purple/lilac, it isn't a colour I use very often in my artwork.  

I also decided to challenge myself to use black lace 

and stitching against a white background rather than vice versa.  

This has meant lots of hunting for suitable materials, 

which ended successfully in the charity shop with a lacy jumper!  

This is one of my tiny books measuring only 7cmx6cm"

Welcome back to a brand new challenge!

It's always SO nice to see you here.

Our designers wanted you to know that

this was one tough week to choose

winners...so much creativity!

We can't quite let the cat out of the bag, but

what we can say is....

you are not going to want to miss a week

here in The Cafe.

Beginning in February, we have some 

pretty special guests, sponsors and

our very first 'challenge twist'!

Now...how about this week's color story,

given to us by Senior Designer, Sarah Anderson...

This week's colour inspiration comes from 

the wonderful Quentin Blake's new range of fabrics 

based on some of his illustrations.

Unfortunately my boys are now too old to have their rooms 

decorated in this fabric, otherwise I'd be creating a jungle bedroom.

I just love the splash of colour against the grey, 

and of course Quentin Blake's fabulous illustrations.  

Those birds are just so, so FaB!!!"

The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC64

Welcome to a very exciting week here in The Cafe.

It's the debut of our

amazing new design team!

You've been introduced to them but now you will 

truly get to know them by way of their

awesome creativity!

Of course, you will see some very familiar faces,

girls that have been a part of our team for awhile now.

Savannah O'Gwynn & Ruby McGuire will be joining

Julie Ranae & Sarah as Senior Designers

and Andrea Ewen is joining the team as a first

term designer after an extended stay as a

Private Blend Designer.

We are very excited about the direction of our challenge

in 2011 and we think you will be too.

Some challenge 'twists' and new sponsors are just a couple

of the creative ways we hope to inspire you to play along each week.

"If you have been a player with us for very long, you can
always get a sense of which of us is hosting, as our
color stories tend to be very much like our personalities.
I love subtle color...I love smoky shades, icy shades.
I also love bold colors as well.  Beyond that, I love to
be creative with the color stories that hopefully inspire
you to create.  I truly hope you enjoy this week's colors
and I look forward to you sharing your creativity
