The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC27

We are so looking forward to sharing this week's
'color story' with you.  It just says Spring, doesn't it?!

We are extremely excited to welcome back to
The Cafe our guest designer for another week,
If you missed her last week, you can click here
and read all about her and her creative experiences.

Our senior designer, Mona Pendleton has chosen
this fabulous color inspiration for you to play
with this week and can we just give a BIG
shout out to her husband Scott for creating
the fabulous graphic for Mona's color photo.

Your design team host this week is Stephanie.

"When I first saw this week's color inspiration
photo, I knew immediately what I wanted to create,
which was a card for teacher appreciation week.
That isn't always the case for me, though.
I find color challenges, well...'very challenging'.

my comfort zone.  Now, I enjoy them because
they help me grow as a designer."

You may know Jen from...well...
She hates 'tooting her own horn' but
here she is to introduce herself:

"Aloha!
I am so honored and excited to be playing
along with the Play Date Cafe girls this week!
I live on the beautiful island of Maui
with my husband Joel and my 3 year old son, Dean.
I've been scrapbooking and stamping
for a couple of years now and am
completely addicted to all things paper!
I am currently on the design team for
as well as Paper Craft Planet.
I am really into hybrid papercrafting
(digi meets traditional)
and serve on the Hybrid Creative Team
Libby Weifenbach as well as a freelance
I host the Scrapbook Sketch Challenge
'Scrappy Sunday' over at PCP.
I enjoy spending time with my family,
hanging out at the beach, hiking, surfing, camping,
paddleboarding and just enjoying the beauty of
our island home."

The color story this week was chosen by
Julie Ranae.  Inspired by the fabulous
Sundance.com catalog, yummy eye-candy for all!
"Feel free to use silver or gray along with
clay, cream and turquoise-y blue.
IT'S YOUR INTERPRETATION
so have fun!"

Your design team hostess-with-the-mostess

"I love color challenges. It makes me think outside the box.
However, the hardest thing for me when working with color
challenges, is picking which sketch
I would like to use. I had three sketches this week--so it
was hard to pick one that would showcase the colors well:}"

The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC25

Every week, Julie does a magnificent job of coordinating us all,
promoting the cafe, and putting this blog post together.
But this week she's been really poorly sick with a nasty flu bug
so I'm in charge and praying everything goes smoothly.

And that Julie gets better very quickly!

But you know what happens when you let your British design team
colleague take charge?
She spells 'colour' ...hmm, can I say 'correctly?',
or shall I be diplomatic
and say 'the non-American way' ;)

I'm also thrilled to introduce you to this week's
'celebrity' Guest Designer and this week's sponsor
Kelly Marie Alvarez,

"Hello! My name is Kelly Marie Alvarez.
I live in Orange County, California with my sweet hubby, Mike,
and my lovable and quirky dog, Putter.
I am the owner of Lawn Fawn,
a photopolymer clear stamp company,
and I absolutely love my job!
I have been making cards since I could hold a Crayola crayon. I love fun and bright design that makes people smile and knowing that I could possibly make someone's day brighter is the best inspiration."

Kelly is offering this FANTASTIC set of
Lawn Fawn Images for our winner this week!

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE...

It's  'Colour Splash' challenge time again ... inspired by the photo above.
'Colour Splash' is simply black & white with a 'little bit' of colour.
And this week's colour is
orange
The Play Date Cafe offers a 'Colour Splash' challenge
every six weeks or so.  So let us know how you like it!

Kelly Marie Alvarez ~ LawnFawn

Now, I also want to introduce you to the lovely
Suzanne Czosek
our host designer this week

"I started stamping around 4 1/2 years ago with a good friend of mine.
She introduced me to this wonderful hobby.
Stamping has brought to me a wonderful creative outlet where
I get to use my creative side to create something that I can
share with family and friends. The on-line aspect of sharing
my work has brought me so many friends around the world
which is a big part of the enjoyment for me as well."

Here's what our other designers have done to inspire you.....
Make sure you visit each of their blogs for the inspiration
behind their creations...

The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC24

Who wouldn't love to have this lovely bouquet of color
on your dining room table?!

A very exciting week here in The Cafe as we welcome
'celebrity' Guest Designer & sponsor
Kristen Powers.

Kristen is an artist/illustrator and has designed rubber
stamp images for a number of years. She's recently
launched a new line of clear stamps,
hand-carved and digital images available
through her blog, Kpink.

Along with Mona's fabulous color selection above,
we were also inspired to use a digital-stamp image
designed by Kristen, especially for The Play Date Cafe.
You will know these images by their fun 'Cafe' theme.

A few of our designers created cards with general rubber
stamps to give you a variety of ideas using this week's colors.

Now...meet Lisa Somerville
Your host for this week's challenge.

"I started stamping about 8 years ago and like many people
I was introduced through a 'home party'. So I bought a few
things just to help out my friend who was the hostess.
I bought an Iris Cart to store my stamping supplies,
thinking I'd have enough room.
Little by little, one stamp led to two, then three,
you get the idea.  I outgrew my Iris Cart rather quickly.
I now have a wonderful studio where I create.
Barely a day goes by where you don't find me
stamping late into the night!
Stamping has brought out my creativity and
brought some wonderful friendships into my life."
