New Designers Reveal...Final Day!

We are coming to you early this week to reveal

the brand new designers who will be joining our

team here at The Play Date Cafe.

Today is the final day of our reveal

and we are really excited to share these

final two designers with you.

Here at The Play Date Cafe,

we have a spot we call the...

It is an invitation-only spot

reserved for designers who capture

our attention for what they bring to

the paper-crafting world and for what

they can add to the design aesthetic of our team.

Only a handful of designers have been asked

to fill this role & we're sure you will love

the ladies who have been invited this term.

We are honored they accepted our invitation

and are thrilled they are able to join us!

Our first PBD was introduced to you a few weeks ago

as a guest here in The Cafe. It was shortly after that

we knew she'd be the perfect addition because of

her unique style in card-making.

Amy Tsuruta

"Hi, Amy Tsuruta here of Tsuruta Designs! I'm thrilled to be a Private Blend Designer here at The Play Date Cafe! I live in the fabulous state of Washington with my 2 lovely kids. I'm engaged to thee most spectacular guy that absolutely supports my obsession of crafting:) I work full time for a design firm located in Seattle so I do most of my crafting on the weekends.

I've been actively blogging since November 2007 and love the paper crafting community. There is so much inspiration out there!!!

I'm so very thankful for the design teams that I am on AND my former design teams. I continue to learn new things, meet new people and have been thoroughly enjoying myself through the process. I love to inspire and BE inspired."

We add another Texan to our team as

a PBD and are very excited that she will

be specializing in layouts to inspire

more of our scrapbooking friends to share

their work in our Cafe Gallery.

Connie Mercer

"I am a wife and a mom. I am also “Nini” to five beautiful “grands”. I have been scrapbooking for over twelve years and I know I will never tire of it. I hope to never lose the thrill of pretty paper

or shiny embellies!

I live on a ranch in the Texas hill country with my hubby and all of our deer, cows and armadillos. Most of my inspiration comes from the “grands”, but also from the wonder of nature that surrounds me every day. Living on a ranch has enabled me to capture unique photos that I am able to share with my family and friends. I'm also known to throw in some vintage flair when I can and monthly junkin' trips are a must!!!

"Hi there! My name is Anya Schrier, and I am over-the-moon excited to be joining The Play Date Café Design Team! I live in Pittsburgh, PA, home of Heinz Ketchup and Penguins hockey. I work full time for a natural gas utility company where I am responsible for environmental compliance and permitting. I am married to my high school sweetheart and mom to two doggies. When I am not papercrafting, I like to bake, bird watch, walk, and scuba dive. Jocelyn Olson

"Hi! My name is Jocelyn Olson. My husband, two kids and I live in South Dakota. I grew up in the Phoenix suburbs, but since high school, I’ve lived in Michigan, Texas, South Dakota, West Virginia (by Pittsburgh), Kentucky, northern Pennsylvania, and now back in South Dakota where my husband is from. After two years, I’m still trying to get used to the cold.

I was always a crafty kid, but I jumped into the scrapbooking world right before my daughter was born—I thought it would be a good idea to make 100+ handmade birth announcements with a newborn. A couple of years later, I discovered the stamping world, and lately, I’ve been using more and more digital stamps and elements. Primarily, I’m a card maker, but I love to try just about any kind of papercrafting projects. I’ve been so fortunate enough to have been published in Paper Crafts Magazine and work on some terrific design teams. I am thrilled to be joining the PDCC DT!"

"Hi! I am a wife, and stay at home Mother of two sweet little boys. Whenever I have a free moment I am playing in my craft room! I was first introduced to stamping in 2003 when I was invited to a neighborhood card making club. I soon fell in love with all things stampy, and have been going non-stop ever since. I have had an amazing year not only being a Paper Crafts magazine World Card Making Day winner, but also being chosen as 2012 Stamping Royalty as well. I have been published numerous times, and I am loving every minute of this ride! I am thrilled to be a part of The Play Date Cafe Design Team, and I can't wait to see what you create!

"My name is Angi Barrs and I am thrilled to be a first time designer here at The Play Date Café. I live in “Terrific Texas” with my teenage daughter. I’m frequently in San Diego as well visiting my oldest daughter too. I’m a full-time Jr. High school teacher and my background includes journalism, photography, and I have proudly served my country in the U.S. Marine Corps.

I’m craft obsessed! Not only do I make cards, but I frequently make altered projects , home décor, and party favors as well. I’ve gotten to design for some fabulous manufacturers, and have had my work published in several crafty magazines. You can find my designs at the Cokie Pop Paper Boutique.

I am so looking forward to working with this inspiring team!"

Lynn Adams

"Hello! My name is Lynn Adams and you can find me at Artsy Lynn or on Flickr. My creative journey started several years ago, when I began scrapbooking with my mother and sister. Since then, I have dabbled in a little bit of everything, but have come to really enjoy digital scrapbooking, and more recently, mixed media work. My specialty is art journaling and I also love drawing and painting my own sketches. I get my artistic inspiration from my faith, nature, color, and of course from so many other creative minds out there! I also have to add that I am just about the biggest nerd out there--I teach math, and I play geeky board and role-playing games, and even attend game conventions. I am new to the online paper crafting community, so I am very thankful for the chance to be a part of The Play Date Cafe!"

THE PROJECT BE BASED ON THE CURRENT
CHALLENGE AND HAVE NOT BEEN POSTED
PRIOR TO THE CURRENT CHALLENGE DATE

When using additional colors,
they must be limited to neutrals.

You are welcome to combine challenges,
but we do ask that:
1. The PDCC name and/or photo is used
2. OUR colors are the focus of the card.

The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC117

Welcome back to another challenge in The Cafe.

It's an exciting week here as we begin aNOTHer term

with one of the best design teams you can find in

the challenge world and with that comes announcements

regarding our designers.

We are SUPER excited to welcome...

Alica Thelin

"I’m a born and raised California girl whose been transplanted to little ol’ Herriman, Utah. I’ve been married to my devastatingly handsome husband, Brett, for twenty years. We have three sassy children: Meagan-16, Madeline (Maddie)-14,

and my baby Alexander (Alex) 12.

In 1999 I became a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator in order to get out of the house, you know, a little grown-up conversation? I adored learning and teaching all about stamping. A few years later I found myself in the position to leave the home and go back to work full time while my husband went back to college. Blessings come in crazy ways you know! Before I knew it I was working full-time as an Event Coordinator at the Stampin’ Up! home office here in Riverton, Utah. My job blossomed into a Concept Artist for that team. Soon the actual Art Department approached me and felt like I’d be a good fit. Greatest job ever. Stamping with new products all day long, everything in their catalog at my fingertips. Fun days!

Oh, but the criticism was hard to swallow…

Eventually my husband finished school with another two degrees and obtained employment. I LOVED my job, but MISSED my kids. Time to come back home. It was excruciating to leave to say the least, but I still have some great friends that I’ve been able to keep in touch with. Not to mention all the mad stamping skills I was able to develop and take with me.

Over the last three years I’ve been re-learning how I like to create and share projects and experiences on my blog, ScrappyBetties. This is my little corner of the paper-crafting world that I hold dear, where I share my h{art}. It’s a place for kind words, encouragement and a dose of reproducible inspiration. I try to make things, and then let you know where I succeeded and any little tips and tricks I may have learned along the way."

to staying on with us for a full term.
